This week I had a gig playing the amazing music of the trombonist, JJ Johnson. He played on loads of incredible albums alongside musicians like Miles Davis, Bill Evans and Kai Winding.

Here is an arrangement I worked out on guitar where he plays the Cole Porter song ‘It’s Alright with Me".

Also checkout the original version here, absolutely swinging and I love the key change on the outro.

I also discovered the album We’ll be together again. JJ and Joe Pass Play together on this as a duo. I’ve transcribed the Joe Pass part on Limehouse Blues, his chord playing is so good. He plays so clearly and seems to have control of the melody, bass and inner chordal movements so they all sound almost like separate instruments playing them.
